A delegation from NIHR conducted a field visit to the Muharraq Governorate Police Directorate.
In accordance with the authorities endowed to the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) for safeguarding and advancing human rights as specified in its establishing law, the Detention & Facilities Visitation Committee of the NIHR undertook a supervisory visit to the Muharraq Governorate Police Directorate to evaluate the human rights situation and confirm that detainees' rights were being upheld as per national legislation and applicable international standards.
During the visit, the delegation examined the procedures implemented at the directorate to safeguard the rights and responsibilities of detainees. They also assessed the security and legal strategies employed by the Family and Child Protection Office to shield family members, especially children and women, from violence.
